Description
Schools and districts are quickly recognizing that the resources of the 21st century are digital. Textbook companies are reducing their investments in writing static textbooks and are continuing to convert content to digital form. In addition, there is significant research and development around computer adaptive technologies which monitor student progress in real time.
Moving a school or district from the 20th century to the 21st century can be challenging, particularly as there is a need to focus on the learning experiences we want for students, not simply on the technological tools. How can these tools be used to support students in becoming collaborators, creators, communicators, critical thinkers, and innovators? How do these tools support teachers in planning lessons, differentiating instruction, and using data to personalize instruction for all students?
Teachers, students, and parents need support and guidance in implementing 21st century learning environments as we strive for digital tools to be used effectively. GEIG offers an array of professional development and implementation plans that will help schools and districts work through a digital conversion. GEIG also guides districts through a rigorous vetting process of digital tools to determine those that will best support the articulated purpose.
